(See on Internet: Admiralty House Simon's Town)

      (Ref Familia CD p 29 & 30: Farm: Diemersdal.)

Van der Westhuizen died, leaving the farm to his widow. Two years later she married Anthoni VISSER, who according to Historical Simon's Town, was the first European to settle permanently in that area, and who played an important part in its early development. Considering his activities in the Southern Peninsula and in Table Valley, it is very unlikely that he lived on his farm, Diemersdal, but he definitely controlled it from afar. On 2 Oct 1732 he was granted an erfpacht of 32 morgan 413 sq rds. "by syn plaats Diemersdal, thus confirming him as owner of that property through his marriage with Anna Maria BRONS. This is the only evidence that has come to light on his ownership.

Antoni and Anna Maria produced one child, Elizabeth Theresia ~ 26 10 1717 Cape Town, and she became the sole heir of her parents by a will executed in 1742. It seems likely that this will was made owing to the increasing age or ill health of Antoni and that he had died by 1745. This seems likely as although his wife, Anna Maria, was a witness to the baptisms of two of Elizabeth's children, born in 1745 and 1747 respectively. His name appears in neither case. We assume that both he and Anna Maria were dead by 1750, according to a transfer deed of that year. On 16 Feb 1744 Elizabeth married "Luitenant ter See, Christian Everhard Philip von Jungheim" of the warship, Die Hersteller. (Ref CD Familia p. 30).
